OverviewThe Quantaurus-QY is a compact, easy-to-use instrument for measuring the quantum yield of photoluminescent materials. It performs absolute measurements and does not require known reference standards as typically required with the traditional relative method. Samples in different forms — thin films, solids, powders, and solutions — can be analyzed. Liquid samples can be cooled down to -196 °C (77 K) with liquid nitrogen.
Features- Instantaneous measurement: a multichannel detector captures the sensitivity-compensated spectrum and calculates the absolute quantum yield rapidly. Dialog-style dedicated software simplifies the measurement process.
- Fully automated hardware: software-controlled monochromator for automatic selection of excitation wavelengths; automatic measurement of wavelength dependence of quantum yield and excitation spectra.
- Analyzes different sample forms: handles solution, thin-film, and powder samples; optional Dewar flask holder allows liquid-nitrogen cooling to -196 °C (77 K) for solution samples.
- Two models available to cover different PL measurement wavelength ranges to suit sample excitation and photoluminescence requirements.
Applications- Organic metal complexes
- Fluorescent probes
- Dye-sensitized PV materials
- OLED materials
- Quantum dots
- LED phosphors
Principle of quantum yield measurementThe system integrates excitation light source, integrating sphere, and multichannel spectroscope. The instrument measures photoluminescence (PL) and captures emitted spectra with a sensitivity-compensated detector; from these data the absolute PL quantum yield is calculated without the need for external reference standards.
OperationQuantaurus-QY integrates excitation light source, detector and optical system into a single unit. Users load a sample and give simple instructions via the dedicated software; the system then measures luminescence quantum yield, excitation wavelength dependence, PL excitation spectrum, color metrics, etc., in a short time.
