Product overview
The SaberVet Bovine Pregnancy Rapid Test is a qualitative lateral-flow assay for detection of Pregnancy-Associated Glycoproteins (PAGs) in bovine peripheral blood. Designed for on-farm and veterinary use, it enables early confirmation of pregnancy as early as 26 days post-breeding using whole blood (EDTA), plasma (EDTA) or serum.

Intended use
This test uses a double-antibody sandwich format on a nitrocellulose membrane. PAGs in the sample bind to a colloidal gold conjugate and form a visible band at the test line if present; absence of PAGs yields no test-line coloration. Results are qualitative and intended to assist reproduction management decisions in dairy and beef operations.

Storage and stability
Store sealed test devices protected from light at 4-30°C. Do not freeze. Use tests before the expiration date indicated on the package.

Warnings, precautions and safety information

• For bovine use only; not for human diagnostics.
• Do not reuse test components.
• Perform test immediately after opening the pouch; humidity and temperature can affect results.
• Do not use after expiry; do not mix components from different lot numbers.
• All biological samples are potentially infectious; wear protective gloves and follow biosecure handling and disposal procedures according to local regulations.

Specimen collection, handling and transport

• Acceptable specimens: whole blood (EDTA), plasma (EDTA) or serum.
• Whole blood: test immediately when possible; if delayed, refrigerate at 2-8°C and use within 24 hours.
• Serum: collect without anticoagulant and centrifuge to obtain serum.
• Plasma: collect with anticoagulant (e.g., EDTA, heparin) and centrifuge to obtain plasma.
• Short-term sample storage: 2-8°C; long-term: freeze at -20°C or below. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
• Clarify samples with precipitate; hemolyzed or contaminated samples may yield inaccurate results.

Performance and shelf life
Clinical performance: sensitivity 99%, specificity 98.8%. Shelf life: 24 months when stored at 2-30°C.
