The iGFBP-1 (vaginal secretion) test is designed to detect iGFBP-1 by visual interpretation of color development on an internal membrane strip. The membrane is immobilized with anti-iGFBP-1 antibodies on the test region. During the test, the specimen reacts with colored anti-iGFBP-1 antibody colloidal gold conjugates which are precoated on the sample pad. The mixture moves along the membrane by capillary action and interacts with reagents on the membrane. If sufficient iGFBP-1 is present in the specimen, a colored band forms at the test region indicating a positive result; absence of the band indicates a negative result. Appearance of a colored band at the control region serves as a procedural control and indicates proper specimen volume and membrane wicking.

Operating steps

• Bring tests, specimens, buffer and/or controls to room temperature (15-30°C) before use.
• Remove the test from its sealed pouch and place it on a clean, level surface. Label the test with patient or control identification. For best results perform the assay within one hour of opening.
• Add the extracted buffer/sample into the sample well. As the test begins to work, color will move across the membrane.
• Wait for the colored band to appear. Read the result at 10 minutes. Do not interpret the result after 20 minutes.
