Intended Use
This kit is used to quantitatively detect the concentration of vitamin B12 (VB12) in human serum or plasma samples in vitro.
Epidemiology
Vitamin B12, also called cobalamin, is a polycyclic compound containing trivalent cobalt, with four pyrrole rings surrounding a cobalt atom[1]. Humans obtain vitamin B12 from animal products such as meat, eggs, milk and other dairy products. Vitamin B12 and folic acid are essential for normal DNA synthesis, which in turn affects red blood cell maturation[2].
