Overview
The Leica DM4 M and Leica DM6 M are upright materials microscopes designed for imaging, measurement and analysis across multiple samples in materials science and industrial applications. Store-and-recall functions allow instant reproduction of imaging parameters and facilitate consistent operation for users with varying experience levels.

Reproducible Results
In tasks such as steel inclusion rating, particle analysis, phase or grain analysis, reproducibility is critical. The Leica DM4 M and DM6 M deliver reproducible imaging through one-button Intelligent Automation and coded or motorized components that reduce operator variability.

• Reduce processing time: Illumination Manager and Contrast Manager detect contrast technique and objective, adjust aperture and field diaphragms and adapt light intensity automatically.
• Archive and compare settings: Save microscope and camera parameters with Leica Microscope Assistant (Leica LAS Store and Recall Module); settings are archived with images and can be restored anytime.

Speed and Ergonomics

Illumination and Contrast
LED illumination provides stable color temperature across settings, reducing white balance adjustments, improving energy efficiency and providing long lifetime (up to ~72,000 hours). Supported contrast modes include BF, HDF, DIC, FL and POL.

Optical Capabilities
Automated DIC and the 1.25× Panorama objective enable detection of fine details and extended depth of field. DM6 M stores fine adjustments per objective and inserts analyzers or prisms automatically.

Software & Automation
LAS X integrates microscope, software and camera into one workflow. The Store & Recall module archives settings with images. Additional automation and modules are available for materials tasks; autofocus and extended automation features require LAS X.
