Description

Overview
The Zetasizer Lab is an entry‑level dynamic light scattering (DLS) and zeta potential instrument for particle and molecular size analysis. It integrates Adaptive Correlation, M3‑PALS and a constant‑current zeta mode, and supports extended size‑range analysis when used with the ZSU1002 low‑volume capillary cell. ZS Xplorer software provides data quality feedback and guided analysis.

Key features
  • Classical 90° side‑scatter DLS for particle/molecular size (typical 0.3 nm–10 μm; up to 15 μm with extended analysis)
  • M3‑PALS and constant‑current zeta mode for zeta potential and electrophoretic mobility
  • Support for low sample volumes: size from 3 µL (capillary), zeta from 20 µL
  • Static light scattering at 90° for molecular weight estimation
  • On‑site upgrade path to Zetasizer Pro or Zetasizer Ultra
  • Included ZS Xplorer analytics with instant data‑quality feedback

Model variants
  • Blue Label — recommended for routine colloids (metallic colloids, metal oxides, pigments)
  • Red Label — recommended for challenging samples (proteins, surfactant solutions, low solid content)

Which Zetasizer is right for me?
Comparison (overview): Zetasizer Ultra | Zetasizer Pro | Zetasizer Lab — Size principle: NIBS & MADLS | NIBS | Classical 90° DLS; Zeta principle: ELS with M3‑PALS & constant current (all models); Low‑volume capillary support: Yes | No | Yes.

Key applications
  • Colloidal silica — reproducible sizing for quality control
  • Titanium dioxide — aggregation/agglomeration and stability vs. pH or salt concentration
  • Ceramics — particle size distributions and multimodal populations
  • Proteins — low‑volume characterization using capillary cell
  • Fluorescent nanomaterials (C‑dots) — measurement considerations for fluorescence
  • Viral vectors (AAV) — size distribution and indicative titer (MADLS on Ultra for concentration/titer)
