Cryion is a combined medical stimulator integrating a medical heater/cooler, ultrasound stimulator and medical iontophoresis unit into a single device. Using dedicated handpieces, it is intended for pain relief and transdermal ionic drug delivery. Heat and cold therapies relieve pain and reduce swelling and inflammation by inducing muscle contraction and relaxation, while ultrasound energy and iontophoresis enable application to a range of treatment indications.
Main components and functions- Medical heat and cold unit: uses heat/cold therapy to relieve pain and reduce swelling and inflammation through muscle contraction and relaxation
- Ultrasound stimulator: applies ultrasound energy to the affected area for pain relief (1–5 intensity levels)
- Medical iontophoresis (MX121 reimbursed): delivers drug ions transdermally (1–9 intensity levels), provides +/- polarity modes
- Separate handpieces per function: handpieces are color-coded by LED to prevent confusion during use
Iontophoresis- Iontophoresis uses bipolar electrodes to introduce ionic drugs through the skin into local tissues, applicable to treatment of muscle, tendon and joint injuries and inflammation
Advantages of iontophoresis- Delivers therapeutic concentrations of drug to target tissues in a short time
- Facilitates precise control of delivered dose
- Allows drug delivery to local areas with limited vascularization
Features- Touch LCD: intuitive touchscreen for simple configuration
- Handpiece identification: distinct handpieces with LED color indication for heat/cold and ultrasound to avoid confusion
- Enhanced safety: temperature sensor and internal water-level sensor with alerts for required checks
- Improved convenience: SAVE button to store temperature, intensity and time settings for repeat use
