Product overviewThe TYMPANO otoscopic simulator is designed for clinical skills training in otoscopic examination of the tympanic membrane. It delivers realistic otoscopic views and a tactile relief of the eardrum to teach recognition of normal and pathological tympanic membranes and to practise safe otoscope handling.
Main features- 31 interchangeable tympanic membrane cartridges covering normal anatomy and common pathologies (cholesteatoma, otitis media, tympanic perforation).
- Dedicated normal-ear cartridge enabling paracentesis exercise.
Available sets- OSCE set: 3 sets of 8 eardrums representing the most frequent pathologies for objective structured clinical examinations.
- TEACHING set: 30 pathological tympanic membranes plus 1 normal membrane for paracentesis and trans-tympanic aerator placement practice.
Installation and exercisesDelivery includes installation support. The simulator supports training and assessment of otoscopic examination, paracentesis, myringotomy and ear ventilation tube placement.
Clinical training objectives- Validate learners’ ability to recognise normal and pathological tympanic membranes.
- Teach and assess otoscope-handling techniques: correct grip, visualization of the full tympanic membrane and safe manoeuvres to avoid patient injury.
Advantages- Realistic otoscopic view and tactile relief of the tympanic membrane.
- Repeatable exercises for entire student groups thanks to interchangeable cartridges.
- Enables procedural practice including paracentesis and trans-tympanic aerator placement.
