The TWIN BAG (Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD) Bag System) consists of an integrated closed system. The dialysate is sterile and non-pyrogenic, supplied in medical grade flexible polyvinyl chloride (PVC) bags. The CAPD solution is provided in the primary bag with medication ports (4GYP or Double port) for infusion. The primary bag is connected to a connector through a tubing and the drainage bag is also connected to the connector through the draining tube required for draining the fluid used during the dialysis. The entire bag system is packed inside a transparent pouch. These bags are further packed in corrugated carton as per the packing specifications. Clinical Pharmacology The basic principle of peritoneal dialysis is creating an osmotic gradient across the peritoneal membrane through dextrose. The dextrose in the CAPD solution makes it hyperosmolar to plasma, enabling the transfer of toxic substances and metabolites, present in high concentration in the blood, across the peritoneal membrane into the dialysate.
