Overview
COBS AM is a D-SERVER module that enables two-way speech and Advanced Messaging between D-CALL II (SIP) devices and COBS wireless handsets. It provides alarm listing, status updates and handset functions commonly required in care environments such as door opening, task registration, presence/ready indication and Assistance alarms.

How it works
Care staff use a SIP device (typically a D-CALL II carephone) to communicate with colleagues or patients while COBS handsets display and update an active alarm list automatically when changes occur. COBS handsets support standard functions (door opening, task registration, presence/ready, sending Assistance alarms) and keep visual and vibration states synchronized across devices via Advanced Messaging.

Deployment and connectivity
COBS AM is designed to operate where internet connectivity may be limited. Core functionality does not require internet access or a SIM card. Optionally, the system can integrate with a 3CX PBX to enable mobile and landline calls. Additional SIP accessories such as door phones can be added as needed.

DECT infrastructure
COBS AM requires a DECT-based infrastructure. For small nursing homes, a Spectralink IP-DECT Server 400 with two or three DECT repeaters is often sufficient to extend coverage. Once DECT is deployed, COBS handsets are added in D-SERVER similarly to D-TREX 2G; vibration and colour settings can be defined per state.
