Description

The Pressure Relief Memory Foam Cushion is a comfortable pressure care cushion. We use two separate pieces of Memory Foam with firmer foam in between. This helps to stabilize the Memory Foam and also will allow the cushion to be reversed, so the patient is not constantly sitting on the same side. After a period of time all foam, including Memory Foam can lose it’s recovery quality and flatten out. This is the time the cushion should be replaced. This cushion is 6cm / 2.4″ thick and is very soft. The patient will not be sitting too high in a wheelchair, compared to some other firmer and deeper cushions. The low height also makes it easier for short people to sit down with their bottom at the back of the chair. When brand new, the cushion may have a chemical odour. If so, remove it from the polythene bag and remove the cushion from the cover to let it air out until the smell has dispersed. Two Grades of Internal Foam This cushion is available in two grades: Soft and Firm. The softer cushions, Items 170MS43 and 170MS49, may be suitable for frail or elderly patients. Items 170MF43 and 170MF49 have firmer memory foam in the middle, which may be better for heavier patients. The firmer foam is very hard when cold but it will mould to the body shape when it warms up to body temperature. Two Sizes of Cushion Most wheelchairs require the 43cm x 43cm x 6cm / 17″ x 17″ x 2.4″, size but some larger chairs may need the 49cm x 49cm x 6cm / 19″ x 19″ x 2.4″ size.
