Incifilm® Incision drapes are thin transparent adhesive polyurethane film that is used during surgical procedures to cover and protect incision site to help prevent surgical site infection as it is critical to reduce and restrict microorganisms from entering the open surgical wound, so it is suitable to be used as a mechanical barrier to facilitate all types of surgical operations. It allows the skin to breathe so preventing moisture build up under the drape, as a result, it adheres to the surrounding skin throughout long surgical operations and more importantly right up to the wound edge. Indications Incifilm® Incision drapes are indicated for use as Incise drapes to cover patients’ skin facilitating all types of surgical operations acting as a protective barrier for the patient, reducing the potential risk of surgical site contamination. Precautions • The skin should be clean, dry, and free of skin oils to assure good adhesion. • The drapes should not be applied under tension. • Do not defibrillate through plastic drapes as arcing or ineffective defibrillation may result. • Seek medical advice immediately for all serious wounds and burns or if redness, infection, reactions or discomfort occurs. • In order to minimize the risk of potential infection hazard or environmental pollution, disposing the medical device should follow disposal procedures according to applicable local laws. How does it work? Incise drapes stick to the surgical site, across the exposed skin area, covering the prepped skin area and over the edge to the surrounding fabric drapes. This is how a sterile surface is created.
