OverviewThis intraoperative gamma probe test phantom enables reproducible commissioning baseline measurements and routine quality control for gamma probes used in surgical environments. It is designed for controlled evaluation of probe sensitivity, spatial and angular resolution, and count-rate performance in air and in a scatter medium.
Components- Main tank allowing tests in air and in a scatter medium;
- Two radioactive source holder rigs for angular and spatial resolution measurements, with adapters for sealed pen sources and an optional small fillable sphere for unsealed sources (typically Tc‑99m);
- Gamma probe holder with interchangeable inserts to accommodate probe ends with and without collimators.
Supported tests (per NEMA NU 3‑2004)- Sensitivity in air;
- Sensitivity in a scatter medium;
- Spatial resolution in a scatter medium;
- Volume sensitivity to distributed activity in a scatter;
- Short‑term sensitivity stability;
- Sensitivity to scatter;
- Count rate capability in a scatter medium;
- Angular resolution in a scatter medium.
