Description

Overview
The fiber photometry system enables optical recording of population neuronal activity in freely behaving animals using implanted multimode fibers and compact headstage-free implants. The platform supports long-term experiments with reduced surgical footprint, lightweight implants and efficient data management. It is compatible with GECIs (e.g., GCaMP), red-shifted indicators and neurotransmitter probes, and designed to integrate with behavioral paradigms for studies of region-specific and coordinated neural dynamics.

How the Fiber Photometry System Works
Genetically encoded calcium indicators (GECIs) change fluorescence with intracellular calcium transients, which correlate with neuronal activity. A two-wavelength GCaMP approach (isosbestic reference + calcium-dependent excitation) is used to reduce motion and autofluorescence artifacts: an isosbestic excitation captures calcium‑independent signal (reference) while a calcium-dependent excitation measures activity-related fluorescence. The system combines signals across fibers to assess coordinated activity across brain regions and during social or behavioral tasks.

R821 / FR-21 Tricolor Multichannel Fiber Photometry System
Configurable with 410 nm plus 470 nm or 560 nm excitation; 410 nm used as reference to reduce noise. Supports green and red indicators and neurotransmitter probes.

R811 / FR-11 Dual-Color Multichannel Fiber Photometry System
Provides 410 nm and 470 nm excitation for two-wavelength GCaMP recordings; compatible with standard optoelectronics and neurotransmitter probes.

R812 / FR-12 Dual-Color Multichannel Fiber Photometry System
