SCREEN 1 BUPRENORFINA One Step Drug Test Card REF: SC-0029-25 The Screen 1 Buprenorphine rapid test (Urine) is a rapid chromatographic immunoassay for the qualitative detection of Buprenorphine in urine at a threshold concentration of 10 ng/ml. This test provides only a preliminary qualitative result. Buprenorphine is a powerful pain reliever often used in the treatment of opiate addiction. The substance is sold under the trade names of Subutex,Buprenex, ™ Temgesic, ™ and Suboxone ™ which contain Buprenorphine HCl alone or in combination with Naloxone HCl. Therapeutically, buprenorphine is used as a replacement therapy for opiate addicts. Substitution therapy is a form of medical care offered to opiate addicts (especially heroin addicts) based on a substance similar or identical to the commonly used drug. In replacement therapy, buprenorphine is as effective as methadone but exhibits lower levels of physical dependence. The concentrations of free buprenorphine and norbuprenorphine in urine may be less than 1 ng/ml following therapeutic administration, but can vary up to 20 ng/ml in cases of abuse. While the complete elimination of a single dose of the substance can take up to 6 days, the detection window for the parent drug in the urine is approximately 3 days. The BUP rapid test is a rapid urine analytical test that can be performed without the use of instrumentation. The test uses a monoclonal antibody to selectively detect high levels of Buprenorphine in urine.
