When the catheter is obstructed, the thin section at the tip is inserted into the narrow urethral end first, and the power balloon is pressed so that the balloon at the tip is filled with gas and then the urethra is expanded radially in a compliant manner.

Minimises damage to the urethral mucosa during cannulation and reduces patient pain.
Infection reduction
Reduces urinary tract infection complications, reduces the number of days catheters are left in place, reduces clinical costs and improves hospital bed turnover and clinical safety.
