OverviewPirox is a top-open, seated dual-source dental CBCT engineered to deliver fast, high-precision, non-stitched volumetric imaging with a maximum field of view of 20 x 18 cm. The system is designed for clinical environments requiring comprehensive 3D diagnostic capability with patient accessibility and workflow efficiency.
Pirox-S in a nutshell- Patient-focused open-top seated scanning
- Industry-leading image quality with multiple FOV options
- Advanced multi-artifact reduction algorithms
- High reliability and clinical durability
- Ergonomic industrial design for clinical settings
- Product information & safety instructions
- 360° room view capability
Patient experienceThe open-top design and seated scanning workflow reduce claustrophobia and improve access for children, elderly and mobility-impaired patients. A spacious scanning aperture reduces shoulder interference and supports comfortable head positioning.
Low-dose imagingPirox employs dual-source pulsed scanning with reduced output per source to lower dose while preserving high spatial resolution. Increased source-to-patient distance (64.5 cm / 25.4 in) and a dedicated pediatric mode further reduce exposure and scan time when indicated.
Imaging: multiple FOVs & high resolutionPirox acquires a true large FOV of 20 x 18 cm without image stitching. Available FOVs: 20 x 18 cm, 17 x 10.5 cm, 8 x 8 cm, 4 x 4 cm. From a single rotation the system can generate CT, panoramic, frontal, lateral and 3D TMJ reconstructions. Spatial resolution up to 25 lp/cm is supported by a 16-bit grayscale pipeline and intelligent artifact correction.
Advanced multi-artifact reductionThe system integrates algorithms to mitigate geometric distortion, beam hardening, scatter, metal artifacts, noise and cone-beam specific artifacts, with demonstrated improvement in diagnostic clarity on before/after comparisons.
Performance & workflowLarge-FOV CT reconstructions are produced rapidly (approximately 2.6 s reconstruction). Scan times vary by protocol (approximately 10–35 s). Dual-source pulsed scanning combined with a high-efficiency detector supports clinical throughput and reliable image quality.
Industrial & clinical design highlights- Top-open architecture for improved patient comfort
- Six-point head positioning and seated positioning system

Clinical evidence & durabilityLongitudinal case data report minimal image quality degradation after 47,854 patient scans over three years, indicating consistent image performance across the system lifetime.
Product information & safety notesPirox is intended for use by medical institutions for X-ray diagnosis of oral and maxillofacial regions using Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT). The system emits X-ray radiation; operators must follow radiation protection procedures and the user manual. Not recommended for pregnant women or women who may become pregnant. Operators and maintenance personnel should be trained and aware of X-ray hazards.
