CUTISS AG, founded in 2017, is an innovative, late-stage European clinical TechBio company to provide tissue therapy to patients with large and deep skin defects. denovoSkin™, the “personalised, living skin tissue on demand,” is poised to become the world’s first, automatically-produced, skin tissue therapy that is safe, effective, and accessible for patients of all ages needing skin surgery. CUTISS AG is a spin-off from the University of Zurich (UZH) and the University Children’s Hospital, headquartered at the Bio-Technopark in Zurich, led by a team of executives with extensive experience in skin industry.The company’s mission is to revolutionise skin surgery and advance dermatology through personalised tissue therapies. denovoSkin™ received Orphan Drug Designation (ODD) from the EMA, Swissmedic, and the US FDA. To date, CUTISS raised over €133 million in funding. Key technological milestones of denovoProd include completion of functional automated prototypes, Semotiss, denovoBox and GraftBox in 2021. The same year, CUTISS's own GMP facility was certified by Swissmedic, allowing in-house production. denovoSkin™ has completed Phase I & II clinical trials with positive long-term results. The product is currently undergoing Phase III trials in the EU and Switzerland, with end of recruitment projected for 2026.

The company also won several awards and competitions.

Through its French subsidiary, CUTISS Innovation, CUTISS also enhances its portfolio in R&D through a PhD-research program on Melanocyte cultivation, as well as the Melanee-program for Medical Device development to address medical needs for skin pigmentation, such as Vitiligo. Furthermore, the commercialisation of the approved product Viticell™ has gained the company expertise in product launch and B2B marketing, and sales.
