Human leukocyte antigen (HLA) system is a gene complex encoding the major histocompatibility complex proteins in humans. These cell-surface proteins are responsible for the regulation of the immune system. HLAB27 is crucial for diagnosis of ankylosing spondylitis (AS) and AS related spondylarthropathy. HLAB27 takes an important role in disease pathogenesis and there are several types of the disease. The prevalence of the disease is altering between different ethnic groups. HLA-B 57:01 is a genetic variation linked to hypersensitivity to the antiretroviral (ARV) drug Abacavir. Combination ARV therapy (cART) is an effective treatment strategy for HIV infections and it decreases morbidity and mortality rates for HIV-infected patients. Abacavir (ABC) is a guanosine analog and it is a reverse transcriptase inhibitor. The drug has been approved by US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) since 1998 and it is used in combination with other ARV drugs. Bosphore HLAB27 Detection Kit v1, is a Real-Time PCR based in-vitro diagnostic medical device, IVD CE marked according to 98/79/EC Directive. Bosphore HLAB27 Detection Kit v1 detects HLAB27 allele existence in human biological samples. HLAB27 allele is amplified and fluorescence detection is accomplished using the FAM filter. For the situations that HLAB27 allele is absent in the sample, a housekeeping gene GAPDH is also amplified as internal control. Fluorescence detection of GAPDH is accomplished using the Cy5 filter in order to prove that PCR reaction is performed accurately.
