Description

Gutta-Percha solvent. If it is necessary to perform root canal retreatment, the filling material must be removed. Knowing the risks of using only mechanical methods to remove the filling material, several techniques are proposed, requiring the use of solvents in all of them. Most root canal filling techniques use endodontic cement and gutta-percha cones. Gutta-percha is a material consisting basically of a vegetable resin and is soluble in chemical solvents, such as orange terpene. Filling cements that contain rosin in their composition (eg N-Rickert, Pulp Fill) are also dissolved by orange terpene, as rosin is a vegetable resin. Orange essential oil is also effective in unobturating root canals filled with zinc oxide and eugenol cement. CITROL is an alternative for carrying out a new endodontic treatment, with great solvency capacity for gutta-percha cones. It is an essential oil, volatile, extracted from the peel of the sweet orange, with a pleasant odor.
