Description

Bovine infections can result in a variety of clinical signs, such as pneumonia mainly but also arthritis, mastitis and keratoconjunctivitis, none of which are M. bovis-specific. Laboratory diagnosis is therefore important. Identification of M. bovis from nose swabs, broncho-alveolar lavage samples can be done by streaking the sample directly onto CHROMagar™ Mycoplasma agar plates. The detection of M. bovis by red coloration allows an easy detection with a fried egg aspect under binocular loupe after 3-7 days of incubation at 37 °C under CO2 atmosphere. 1.EASY TO READ AND INTERPRET With CHROMagar™ Mycoplasma, colonies have an intense red coloration and a fried egg appearance - making detection very easy. 2. DETECTION Detection is possible between 3 to 7 days under CO2 atmosphere. 3. SIMPLE METHOD Identification of M. bovis from nasal swabs and broncho-alveolar lavage samples can be performed by plating the sample directly onto the plates.
