Description

Product overview
The SaberVet Bovine Pregnancy Rapid Test is a qualitative lateral-flow immunoassay for detection of Pregnancy‑Associated Glycoproteins (PAGs) in whole blood (EDTA), plasma (EDTA) or serum. Designed for use from 26 days post-breeding and throughout gestation, the test uses a double‑antibody sandwich format on a nitrocellulose membrane and produces a visible purple test line for positive results. This format supports on-farm and clinical use by veterinarians, dairy and beef operations.

Reagents and materials provided
  • Test devices
  • Assay buffer
  • Disposable droppers
  • Package insert with instructions

Materials required but not provided

  • Results can be affected by extreme humidity and temperature during testing.
  • Verify foil pouch integrity before use; perform the test immediately after opening.
  • Single use only; do not reuse components.
  • Do not use expired kits or mix components from different lot numbers.
  • All specimens should be treated as potentially infectious; operators must wear appropriate protective gloves and follow hygiene procedures.
  • Decontaminate and dispose of used kits and contaminated materials in accordance with local regulations.

Specimen collection, handling and transport
  • Accepted specimens: whole blood, serum or plasma.
  • Whole blood: collect and test immediately if possible; otherwise refrigerate at 2–8°C and test within 24 hours.
  • Serum: collect blood in tubes without anticoagulant; centrifuge to obtain serum.
  • Plasma: collect blood in tubes with anticoagulant (e.g., heparin, EDTA or sodium citrate); centrifuge to obtain plasma.
  • Short‑term storage: 2–8°C. Long‑term storage: −20°C or below; avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.
  • Clarify samples with precipitate prior to testing; hemolyzed or contaminated samples may yield invalid results.

Performance and usage notes
The assay detects bovine PAGs from as early as 26 days after breeding and is suitable for use throughout pregnancy. Reported clinical performance: sensitivity 99% and specificity 98.8%. Field use can assist veterinarians and production managers in reducing unnecessary rebreeding and improving reproductive management.

Packaging and regulatory / quality information
Manufactured in a facility certified to CE, ISO 13485 and GMP standards. Quality control includes batch consistency testing, production-stage QC and full traceability with batch documentation.
