Description

VAC-V2 is a differential-pressure laboratory instrument for precise determination of gas transmission rate and derived barrier properties (solubility coefficient, diffusion coefficient, permeability coefficient) of films, composite films, high-barrier materials, sheeting and aluminum foils.

Product features
  • Measure gas transmission rate, solubility, diffusion and permeability coefficients in a single test.
  • Three independent specimen positions allow simultaneous testing of distinct or equivalent samples with separate results.
  • Wide-range, high-precision temperature (5°C–95°C, ±0.1°C) and humidity control (0%RH or 5%–90% RH; automatic humidification option at 15°C–40°C).
  • Two test modes: proportional mode and standard mode; test range expandable for high-permeability materials.
  • Data-fitting function for reliable evaluation at extreme conditions and across temperatures.
  • Configurable to test toxic, flammable or explosive gases (customization required); RS232 port and computer-controlled automated sequences; Lystem™ Lab Data Sharing System support.
  • Includes reference film for fast calibration.

Principle
The preconditioned specimen is mounted in a gas diffusion cell separating two chambers. The low-pressure chamber is evacuated, then gas is introduced into the high-pressure chamber to establish a constant pressure difference. Gas permeates through the specimen into the low-pressure chamber; permeability and derived coefficients are calculated by monitoring pressure change in the low chamber.

Standards
  • ISO 15105-1
  • ISO 2556
  • GB/T 1038-2000
  • ASTM D1434
  • JIS K7126-1
  • YBB 00082003

Applications
  • Films
Plastic films, composite films, paper-plastic composites, co-extruded films, aluminized films, aluminum foils and foil composites.
  • Sheeting
Engineering plastics, rubber and building materials (e.g. PP, PVC, PVDC).
  • Gases
    O2, CO2, N2, air, He and others (user-supplied gases).
  • Special cases
Biodegradable films, painted/coated substrates, aeronautical materials (helium testing), cosmetic tubes, rubber sheets, paper and board packaging.
