Product descriptionThe BB 50 is the smallest model of the RETSCH jaw crusher series, designed for laboratory sample preparation. The compact forced-feed crusher fits on a laboratory bench and is intended for batchwise processing of small sample quantities or continuous operation for larger throughputs.
Features- Feed size up to 40 mm; achievable final fineness down to 0.5 mm
- Removable breaking jaw for tool-free cleaning
- Adjustable speed to match sample characteristics
- Wear compensation via zero-point adjustment
- Operating keypad with digital display and memory for gap setting
- Dust-tight design; collector capacity 3 L
Easy operation & cleaningThe clear operating panel displays gap width and speed. The large hopper with splash-back protection enables safe feeding. Fold-back hopper and crusher arm are removable without tools for fast cleaning and jaw exchange to adapt to different applications.
Zero Point AdjustmentZero-point adjustment compensates wear of the breaking jaws. A display indicator signals when jaw replacement is required, preventing damage to the crusher.
Cyclone System for Jaw CrushersRETSCH offers a retrofit Cyclone System to improve sample recovery and operator safety.
- Total Sample Recovery — Minimises sample loss during crushing for reproducible results
- Enhanced Operator Safety — Reduces dust exposure
Existing BB models (BB 50, BB 250, BB 400, BB 500) can be retrofitted with the Cyclone System.
AccessoriesBreaking jaws and wear plates are available in materials chosen according to sample and analysis:
- Manganese steel
- Stainless steel
- Tungsten carbide
- Zirconium oxide
- Steel (1.1750) for heavy-metal free grinding
The optional lid for the collecting receptacle prevents cross-contamination by avoiding transfer of fine residues between samples.
Typical Sample MaterialsSuitable for pre-crushing construction materials, ores, granite, oxide ceramics, quartz, slag, silicon, coal, tungsten alloys, cement clinker, etc.
Functional principleThe BB 50 is a forced-feed jaw crusher: material enters via a no-rebound hopper into the crushing chamber. Size reduction occurs between a fixed and an eccentrically driven movable arm; elliptical motion crushes the sample which discharges by gravity when smaller than the set gap. Continuous gap width setting with digital display enables reproducible size reduction.
