Small, Implantable Heart Rate and Temperature Logger for Fish and Aquatic Animals
Small, leadless, minimally invasive, and easy to implant. Long-term heart rate and body temperature.
Ideal for long- and short-term physiological studies to measure cardiac function in small aquatic animals. Published studies include baseline, stress response, thermal tolerance and swim speed tests.
Key features
Small size, 8.3 mm x 25.4 mm and 3.3g, long battery life
Leadless, minimally invasive
ECG derived heart rate, records down to 4bpm
Guaranteed pressure tolerance to 800 meters
Automatic stress-free measurements
Small size and long battery life
The DST micro-HRT is a small heart rate and temperature logger that weighs only 3.3g with diameter of 8.3 mm and length of 25.4 mm. This being the world smallest heart-rate logger you’ll get a battery life that can last up to several months, depending on sampling frequency and measurement interval.
Published data from several fish species
Star-Oddi loggers have been used successfully in several publications in various salmonid and other fish species. Fish weighing from 120g up to several kg.
Leadless, Minimally Invasive
The DST micro-HRT simultaneously measures long term heart rate and temperature in the study animal. The logger has no external wires, which makes it especially simple to implant. It is made of unique ceramic housing and epoxy and is hermetically sealed, guaranteeing biocompatibility.
