Overview
TopAir's VAV-9 is an integrated variable air volume (VAV) control system designed for intelligent fume hood operation. The system measures air velocity via a HOTWIRE sensor and automatically adjusts fan speed through a high-quality variable frequency drive (VFD) to match target set points, reducing energy use and lowering exhaust and HVAC loads.

Safety and Monitoring
The VAV-9 continuously monitors airflow and provides visual and audible alerts if airflow deviates from set thresholds. In the event of a critical fault, the cabinet interior illuminates red to ensure rapid detection, including by personnel with hearing impairments.

System Concept
Delivered as a pre-integrated plug-and-play solution, the VAV-9 includes control logic, touchscreen interface and VFD preconfigured and programmed. This eliminates the need for separate purchases and onsite integration, reducing installation time and commissioning complexity.

Use & Installation
The VAV-9 can be retrofitted to existing fume hoods or installed in new units. Typical installations include research laboratories, healthcare facilities, life-science companies and university labs. The system supports straightforward mounting and electrical connection by HVAC professionals.
