As the foundation of the MicroScan ID/AST product line, conventional panels deliver reference-level accuracy with fewer clinically significant reporting limitations than major automated systems. They reduce repeat testing and provide timely results without relying on historical data.

New additions and panel update
Address multidrug‑resistant organisms with Panel Update‑08, which introduces six new gram‑negative panels; MicroScan continues to offer clinically relevant dilutions and antibiotics.

• New gram‑negative antimicrobial added: meropenem‑vaborbactam (MEV)
• Expanded gram‑negative panel portfolio includes ceftazidime‑avibactam (CZA), ceftolozane‑tazobactam (C/T) and the EUCAST formulation of amoxicillin‑clavulanate (Aug‑E)

Performance and scope improvements

• Reduce offline testing with two new antibiotics available on an automated system
• Ceftazidime/avibactam for treatment-relevant coverage including Pseudomonas aeruginosa, ESBL producers, KPC-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae and certain OXA-type carbapenemase producers in complicated infections and hospital‑acquired bacterial pneumonia
• Ceftolozane/tazobactam for treatment of Enterobacterales in the presence of ESBLs and other beta‑lactamases, and for selected P. aeruginosa resistant mechanisms in complicated urinary and intra‑abdominal infections
• Improved on‑line accuracy for new dilutions and antibiotic formulations (e.g., imipenem; amoxicillin/clavulanate per EUCAST constant clavulanate formulation; cefotaxime and ceftazidime with and without clavulanic acid for ESBL detection and confirmation)
