Description

Overview
The DxM MicroScan WalkAway system is an automated microbiology ID and antimicrobial susceptibility testing (ID/AST) platform delivering MIC-accurate detection of antimicrobial resistance. Designed for clinical and reference laboratories, the system supports high-throughput and mixed-panel workflows while reducing hands-on time and operational complexity.

ID/AST System Benefits
  • MIC-level accuracy for reliable antimicrobial susceptibility results, including detection of carbapenemase-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE).
  • Enhanced detection of emerging resistance mechanisms such as ESBL, MRSA, VRSA, VISA and VRE.
  • Faster turnaround for rapid and specialty ID/AST panels to support clinical decision-making.
  • Proprietary antibiotic formulations and validated methodologies for consistent performance.
  • Automated detection of atypical results via integrated LabPro Alert EX for prompt recognition and reporting.

Laboratory Workflow and Efficiency
The system enables broad first-time reporting with fewer clinically significant drug–bug limitations, reduced need for offline testing, and configurable data outputs for actionable results. It integrates with upstream automation and identification systems to support optimized high-volume testing and simultaneous processing of conventional, rapid and specialty panels on a single platform, lowering labor and material costs.

Software and Data
LabPro Information Manager software streamlines operations with customizable workflows and reduced technologist interaction. Optional LabPro Connect enables consolidation of data across multiple instruments for epidemiology and surveillance reporting.
