Product overviewMeRG® is a double-layer collagen membrane made from type I collagen derived from equine tendon. Available in variants with or without a sterile measuring template, MeRG® is designed to support guided regeneration of focal cartilage lesions with involvement of the subchondral bone. It is intended for use with bone marrow stimulation techniques (e.g., Steadman microfractures) to promote tissue repair and reconstruction.
Properties- Double-layer membrane
- Completely resorbable
- Maintains structural integrity after hydration
Benefits- Creates a biological chamber at the lesion site
- Supports formation of a stable supercoagulum
- Two functional layers in a single device
Indications / When to use- Indicated for treatment of focal cartilage lesions Grade III–IV (Outerbridge) with subchondral bone involvement
- Defect size > 2 cm²
- Recommended defect depth approximately 5–6 mm
How to use- Prepare the chondral lesion and perform bone marrow stimulation as required.
- Measure the defect with the sterile template when provided and perform dry trimming of the membrane to fit.
- Hydrate the membrane with sterile saline or biological fluids for cell enrichment (PRP, bone marrow concentrate) for 1–2 minutes.
- Place the membrane over the lesion with the rough side facing the defect. Optionally apply fibrin glue inside the lesion before placement.
- Fix the membrane at the edges using fibrin glue.
- Apply gentle pressure to improve contact and wait 1–2 minutes for polymerisation.
