PrincipleThe test uses a competitive inhibition immuno-chromatographic assay: when β-lactam residues in the sample reach or exceed the detection limit, they bind the labeled antibody and reduce the signal at the T line versus the C line. The C line must be visible for a valid result.

Operation procedures- Read the instruction leaflet before testing. Bring dipsticks and milk sample to room temperature.
- Absorb 200 µL milk into the micro-well. Mix by pipetting or sucking 5–10 times until homogeneous and free of solids.
- Incubate the sample at 40 °C for step 1 (recommended). If no incubator available, room temperature (≈25 °C) is acceptable. Time: 3 min.
- Insert the dipstick with the end marked MAX downward. Incubate at 40 °C for step 2 (recommended) or at room temperature if necessary. Time: 3 min (extend by 1 min for high-fat samples).
- Remove the dipstick and interpret visually by comparing T and C lines.
Test Result Interpretation- T line darker than C line — Negative: β-lactam residue is below detection limit.
- T line equal to C line — Weak positive: β-lactam residue approximately at detection limit.
- T line lighter than C line or T line absent — Positive: β-lactam residue above detection limit.
- C line absent — Invalid: test failed, repeat with a new dipstick.
Precautions- For raw cow and goat milk only. Not suitable for processed or heavily adulterated samples.
- Use dipsticks and micro-wells only once; do not use expired tests.
- After removing dipsticks, reseal the bottle to protect remaining strips from humidity and light.
- Avoid touching the white membrane. Protect from direct sunlight and strong airflow during storage and testing.
- Store samples refrigerated and test within 3 days. Ensure milk is fully liquid, mixed and free of precipitation before testing.
- For high-fat samples, chromatography may slow; extend step 2 by 1 minute if recommended.
- Confirm positive results by repeat testing or laboratory reference methods before making regulatory decisions.
SpecificityNo cross-reaction observed with tetracyclines, quinolones, sulfonamides, chloramphenicol, melamine and similar common adulterants.
