Description

Product overview
The Leica CM3050 S cryostat is a clinical/research cryosectioning instrument designed to support long serial sectioning tasks with enhanced ergonomics, reproducibility and workflow efficiency. It combines a motorized microtome drive, precise specimen orientation and dedicated cooling for demanding histology and neuroscience applications.

Key features
Precision sectioning
Precise specimen orientation with a zero position allows x/y adjustment up to 8°. The horizontal specimen feed of 25 mm and controlled specimen retraction permit reproducible thin sections across large or delicate samples.

Precision cooling
An independent refrigeration circuit for the object head provides targeted temperature control for challenging specimens (e.g., brain or fatty tissue). High-efficiency insulation and a dedicated chamber cooling maintain stable cryochamber temperatures for extended serial cutting sessions.

Stay organized
A large cryochamber with freezing stage and tool tray, plus an easily accessible storage area on top of the unit, keeps instruments and consumables at hand. The motor drive with foot pedal enables hands-free operation during sample handling.

Stay focused
Section thickness totalizer and counter with reset and reverse-counter functions simplify target preparation and trimming between levels, supporting reproducible workflows and batch processing.

Comfortable working position
The low working height with knee space allows comfortable seated operation; an optional electrohydraulic height adjustment raises the instrument for standing work when required.
