Description

Overview
The RETSCH Hammer Mill HM 200 is designed for crushing, pulverizing and deagglomeration of medium‑hard to fibrous materials. It accepts feed sizes up to 100 mm and can achieve particle sizes below 0.8 mm depending on material properties. The HM 200 is suitable for batchwise or continuous processing and provides high throughput for laboratory and pilot‑plant applications.

Key features
  • Excellent crushing performance
  • High throughput up to 1500 kg/h
  • Fixed speed: 3000 min-1 (50 Hz) / 3500 min-1 (60 Hz)
  • Sieve range: 2–40 mm
  • Feed size up to 100 mm, achievable grind size < 0.8 mm (depending on material)
  • Easy access to crushing chamber for cleaning
  • Suitable for batchwise or continuous grinding
  • Connector for dust extraction

User convenience & safety
  • Fold‑back hopper provides top access to the crushing chamber
  • Additional fold‑back option in the machine middle for cleaning rotor and hammers from below
  • User‑exchangeable parts: wear plates and rotor with swing hammers
  • Safety switch and brake motor ensure immediate stop when the door is opened

Defined particle size
The final fineness depends on material characteristics. Hard and brittle samples can be reduced to below 0.8 mm. The sieve range (2–40 mm) allows adaptation to application requirements; tougher, fibrous or moist samples typically require medium to large sieve apertures.

Cyclone System
  • Total sample recovery to avoid sample loss during crushing
  • Reduced dust exposure for enhanced operator safety
  • Can be retrofitted to existing instruments

Hoppers and collecting systems
  • Standard hopper for rapid feeding of large sample amounts
  • Long stock hopper for elongated particles
  • Standard collector for sample volumes up to 10 l
  • Collector for large volumes up to 30 l
  • Continuous operation possible using gravity outlet and custom collecting systems

Typical sample materials
  • Ores, minerals, ceramics, quartz, slag
  • Soil, coal, glass, cement clinker
  • Wood, plastics, feed pellets, dry animal feed
  • Dried herbs and comparable materials

Functional principle
A hopper feeds the sample into the horizontal grinding chamber. The HM 200 rotates a shaft with 10 freely swinging hammers; material is crushed by impact and shearing. Swing hammers reduce blocking and wear. When particles are small enough to pass the sieve, they discharge through the gravity outlet into a collector.
