OverviewThe Planetary Ball Mill PM 100 is a benchtop planetary ball mill with a single grinding station and a user-friendly counterweight compensating masses up to 8 kg. It processes up to 220 ml sample per batch and generates very high centrifugal forces for fast pulverization. The PM 100 is suitable for research and routine industrial tasks requiring purity, speed, fineness and reproducibility: mechanochemistry, ultrafine colloidal grinding, mixing and homogenizing of soft, hard, brittle or fibrous materials.

- Jar/ball materials: hardened stainless steel, tungsten carbide, agate, sintered aluminium oxide, zirconium oxide; stainless steel jackets for fragile jars
Adapter & Accessories- Adapter for disposable vials (e.g. 1.5 ml GC vials): outer ring 16 positions + inner ring 8 positions (24 total) for screening
- Special closures for colloidal/wet grinding and ergonomic handling
Wet & Nano-scale GrindingWet grinding is recommended to reduce particle sizes (<5 µm) and limit agglomeration from surface charging. Nano-scale results (<100 nm) are obtained using many small grinding balls; ideal jar filling for nano grinding ~60% small balls by volume. Example: alumina in water with 1 mm balls reached 200 nm after 1 h at 650 rpm and ~100 nm after 4 h; two-step (1 mm then 0.1 mm) produced ~76 nm.
