Description

Product overview
The Planetary ball mill PM 300 is a benchtop, two-station mill for jars from 12 ml to 500 ml. It processes up to 2 x 220 ml sample per batch and reaches up to 800 rpm to generate very high centrifugal forces for fast pulverization and reproducible results. Suitable for mechanochemistry, mechanical alloying and ultrafine colloidal grinding in industrial and research laboratories.

Key features
  • Max. speed 800 rpm with large sun wheel
  • Accepts feed up to 10 mm; final fineness down to 0.1 µm (colloidal)
  • Two grinding stations for jars 12–500 ml; 12–80 ml jars stackable (two each)
  • GrindControl option: in-jar measurement of temperature and pressure
  • Aeration lids (optional) for atmosphere control
  • Bench-top with touch screen, storable SOPs and cycle programs
  • Five jar materials for dry and wet grinding

Fast & Powerful
  • Loss-free size reduction to submicron range
  • Wet milling achieves nanometer-range particles (<100 nm)
  • Variable speed 50–800 rpm, speed ratio 1 : -2
  • Up to 64.4 g acceleration
  • Batch-wise processing up to 2 x 220 ml; stackable jars allow simultaneous 4-sample runs

Safe and easy handling
  • Lockable sun wheel for secure clamping of jars
  • Safety slider prevents start without correctly clamped jars
  • FFCS technology for bench stability
  • Touch display for parameter entry and programmable start time
  • Directed ventilation for jar cooling; both jars freely accessible

Settings & Options
  • Dry and wet milling modes
  • Long-duration tests up to 99 h with programmable breaks
  • Automatic total process time calculation; direction reversal to reduce caking
  • Smart service interval notifications based on usage

Reproducibility
  • Speed control ensures reproducible energy input
  • Load-defined speed indication independent of set speed
  • 12 storable SOPs and 4 cycle programs; power-failure backup retains remaining time

EasyFit grinding jars & Grinding tools
The EasyFit series is designed for high mechanical load and wet/nano grinding. AAT (Advanced Anti-Twist) on 50–500 ml jars ensures tight fixation and reduced wear. Geometry improvements on 50 ml and 250 ml jars enable interchangeable lids; three lid diameters cover seven jar sizes. Available jar sizes: 12 / 25 / 50 / 80 / 125 / 250 / 500 ml. O-ring sealing prevents spillage. Jar and balls available in hardened stainless steel, tungsten carbide, agate, sintered aluminium oxide, zirconium oxide. Protective stainless jackets available for selected materials. A groove between body and lid eases opening under underpressure.

Adapter & special applications
Special adapter for disposable vials (e.g. 1.5 ml GC vials) with 24 positions (outer ring 16, inner ring 8) enables parallel screening and small-scale mechanosynthesis trials.

Wet and nano-scale grinding
Wet grinding reduces particle size below 5 µm down to <100 nm. Nano grinding uses many small balls to favor friction over impact; ideal jar filling ~60% with small balls for nano results.

Typical sample applications & examples
Suitable for very hard abrasives (industrial diamond), hard-brittle minerals, aluminium oxide nano grinding, polymeric resins and medium-hard materials. Recommended jar/ball setups and processing times depend on material and target fineness.
