Description

Overview
Vivacon® 2 concentrators process up to 2 ml starting volume and enable concentration up to 30×. Designed for rapid DNA concentration and PCR primer removal; also suitable for peptide fractionation by filter-aided sample preparation (FASP). Devices use low-binding Hydrosart® regenerated cellulose membranes mounted horizontally for optimized DNA handling. Selected MWCO variants are available ethylene oxide (ETO) sterilized and free of detectable DNA. Compatible with fixed-angle rotors that accept 15 ml conical tubes (17 mm × 95 mm).

Applications
  • DNA rebuffering after organic extraction prior to sequencing.
  • Removal of dyes and reagents after sequencing reactions.
  • PCR primer removal and cleanup.
  • Plasmid concentration and desalting.

Technical information
Design features a horizontal membrane and reverse-spin recovery. Intended for fixed-angle rotors fitting 15 ml conical bottom tubes (17 mm diameter, 95 mm depth). Maximum recommended speed: 2,500 xg (may be increased in specific cases; DNA recovery can vary with g-force). Hold-up volume (membrane and support) < 10 µl. Dead stop volume for fixed-angle rotor (25°) ~55 µl; no dead stop with swing-bucket rotors. Refer to manual for rotor-specific guidance and extended operating conditions.
