PlaneSystem® fast, accurate, and aesthetic design of the restoration
The PlaneSystem® is a novel transmission approach with which it is possible to identify asymmetries and the resulting muscular compensations and to minimize transmission errors in the manufacturing of dental restorations already before creating a treatment plan. With the PlaneSystem® the natural position of the upper jaw, the inclination of the occlusal plane and the exact course of the midline of the patient’s face are captured with the aid of the natural head posture and then transferred in the CAD/CAM technology.
The PlaneSystem® was developed in cooperation with MDT Udo Plaster and consists of the PlaneFinder®, the PlanePositioner®, the virtual and mechanical articulator PS1 as well as the special CAD Plane-Tool 3D in the scan software Zirkonzahn.Scan. The PlaneFinder® serves for collecting the data while with the PlanePositioner® the cast of the maxilla is positioned in the mechanical articulator PS1. The articulator PS1 was designed with special geometries to simulate patient-specific rotating, sliding and closing movements of the jaw occurring during mastication.
With the S600 ARTI structured-light optical scanner and the virtual articulator implemented in the scanning software Zirkonzahn.Scan the articulated casts are digitized. The next step is the actual design step. Ideally, the physiognomy of the patient is taken into account during this step. This is now made possible by the Face Hunter 3D facial scanner.
