OverviewPremisut SILK is a sterile, multifilament braided, non-absorbable surgical suture manufactured from fibroin, an organic protein derived from Bombyx mori. Natural silk contains approximately 30% extraneous material (gum), which is removed by a degumming process. The suture is dyed with black hematoxylin and coated with beeswax to improve handling characteristics.
DetailsManufacturing: the degumming process removes extraneous gum to produce a compact braid while preserving filament body and elasticity. The suture is provided sterile and coated to enhance knot security and handling.
Intended use- General soft tissue approximation and/or ligation
- Cardiovascular tissue procedures
- Ophthalmic procedures
- Neurological tissue applications
Clinical behaviorPremisut SILK elicits an initial inflammatory reaction followed by gradual encapsulation by fibrous connective tissue. Although non-absorbable, progressive in vivo degradation of silk fibres may lead to a reduction in tensile strength over time.
NoteThe technical characteristics (coating, tensile strength, needle composition, packaging) may vary or be adjusted to meet market-specific requirements.
