Overview Premisut POLYPROPYLENE suture (Polypropylene) is a sterile synthetic monofilament non-absorbable surgical suture prepared from a synthetic linear polyolefin, polypropylene. The molecular formula is (C3H6)n. The suture is dyed blue with Phthalocyanine blue.
Intended use Premisut POLYPROPYLENE suture is intended for use in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including use in cardiovascular, ophthalmic and neurological tissues.
Features & clinical benefits - Monofilament structure: smooth surface facilitating handling and passage through tissues.
- No interstices in the structure, reducing risk of bacterial harborage.
- Suitable for contaminated or potentially infected wounds; can minimize later sinus formation and suture extrusion.
- Minimal initial inflammatory reaction followed by gradual encapsulation by fibrous connective tissue.
- Non-absorbable: retains tensile strength and is not degraded by tissue enzymes.
- Relatively biologically inert: recommended where minimal tissue reaction is desired.
- Low tissue adherence: effective as a pull-out suture.
Notes Technical characteristics (coating, tensile strength, needle composition, packaging) may be adjusted to meet specific market requirements.
