01. PRE-OPERATIVE PLANNING
Long-length radiographie of the proximal femur and the entire diaphysis are required to determine the stem length of the Biotech Modular Révision Stem prosthesis pre-operatively.
02. OSTEOTOMY, SURGICAL APPROACH, OPENING OF THE MEDULLARY CANAL
Implantation of the Biotech Modular Revision Stem prosthesis does not require a specifie surgical approach.
The level of the osteotomy should be selected as in primary procedures (45 degrces, approximatcly 2cm above the lesser trochanter).
The Medullary Canal is opened in the laterodorsal direction using a sharp curette or a drill.
03. PREPARATION OFTHE DISTAL MEDULLARY CANAL USING DRILLS
• Insert the guidewire with an olive tip into the femur.
• Over the guidewire, gradually drill the medullary canal, beginning with the 9mm drill (30cm length), until cortical contact can be felt.
• The final drill diameter, c.g.. 12mm, corresponds to the stem diamcter of the implant.
• Insert the guidewire with an olive tip into the femur.
• Remove the drill.
04. PREPARATION OFTHE DISTAL MEDULLARY CANAL USING REAMERS
Insert the reamers into the AO coupling adapter. Slide the safety sleeve and connect it to the T-handle.
Prepare the distal medullary canal using the reamers, beginning with the smalest size. Only the awl component on the adapter piece needs to be changed.
The markings on the adapter piece (50/60/70/80) provide an indication of the length of the implant head components.
The diameter of the last reamer used corresponds to the size of the stem implant. This procédure may optionally be performed over a guidewire.
