The art of mastering this fine material is at the heart of all dental work. Whether after pressing, CAD/CAM milling and grinding or veneering – it is the finishing of the surfaces that gives the restoration its unique natural look. The key lies in introducing a natural morphology; an interplay of micro-relief and macro-textures. Ceramics are sensitive and should be processed with care and suitable tools. Monolithic zirconia, pressed lithium disilicate crowns, veneers made of glass or feldspar ceramic, crowns made of hybrid ceramic or veneered anterior bridges – Komet has the right solution for every application. Finishing a framework can be made considerably easier with DCB abrasives. The DCB abrasives (intended for use with a handpiece) impress with their effectiveness and flexibility and are suitable for all framework and veneering ceramics. Work with these abrasives feels soft and smooth, and they allow the surfaces processed and polished with ease. DCB burs are sintered and interspersed with diamond grit and provided with a special ceramic bond (DCB = Diamond Ceramic Bond). Thanks to their high initial sharpness, even high-strength all-ceramic materials can be finished without pressure. The yellow DCB abrasives are used for rough finishing, whereas green DCB abrasives are ideal for fine finishing. The abrasives are available in a wide variety of geometries, shapes and sizes, e.g. lens, wheel, pointed or cone.
