Description

The Safe Dual core Universal Nail is an orthopedic cannulated nail, perforated in its length, having at the extremities locking holes in perpendicular planes. The preparation of the nail in the operating includes the wrapping with a Esmach band in order to be filled with polymethylmethacrylate cement (PMMA) impregnated with appropriate antibiotics. If necessary, can be reinforced with a metal rod inserted inside the cement, forming a dual-core cement / metal core that increases resistance to fatigue in more than 200 %. This unique model and multiple sizes implant for all bone segments, is intended to be used as a first indication, to open fractures, bone lengthening procedures over nail, conversion of external fixation to nailing and treatment of osteo-articular infection. It can be used in the femur, tibia, humerus and to do arthrodesis of the knee and ankle.
