Pluronic F-68® is a difunctional block copolymer surfactant terminating in primary hydroxyl groups. It is a non-ionic detergent that protects cells from hydrodynamic damage. It can be also used for in vitro isolation of lymphocytes from diluted whole blood.
Packaging size: 100 mL
Application Notes
Pluronic® F-68 is a widely used non-ionic surfactant in cell culture, offering protection against shear stress in suspension cultures during stirring, transfer, freezing, and thawing. It also helps reduce foaming in stirred cultures and minimizes cell attachment to glass surfaces, preventing agglomeration.
Optimized Concentration for Different Applications
Common Working Concentration: 0.1% (1 g/L) – Balances shear protection and cell growth.
Typical Range: 0.01% to 0.2% – Depends on final application.
Cryopreservation: Higher concentrations (0.2%) improve cell viability by reducing ice crystal formation and osmotic stress.
Lymphocyte Isolation: Used for in vitro isolation of lymphocytes from diluted whole blood.
Pluronic® F-68 is essential in bioprocessing, gene therapy, vaccine production, and cryopreservation, ensuring optimal cell growth, viability, and stability in various applications.
