Description
Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS) is the cell-free, coagulation-factor-depleted liquid fraction of aseptically collected fetal bovine blood obtained after centrifugation. Sterile FBS S1650 is produced by triple 0.1 µm filtration and supplied frozen to preserve biological activity.

Main properties
FBS contains proteins, growth factors and attachment factors that support maintenance, viability and proliferation of eukaryotic cells in vitro. Attachment factors provide a coating effect on plasticware that enhances cell adhesion, making FBS suitable for many primary cells and established cell lines.

Controls & testing
All batches are tested for endotoxin and mycoplasma levels, screened for specific viral agents (BVD), and characterized for hemoglobin content, total protein and cell culture performance to ensure lot-to-lot consistency.
