Cytokeratin 6 is a type II cytokeratin that is expressed in the stratified epithelium, including the oral mucosa, esophagus, epidermal basal layer, outer root sheath of hair follicles, and glandular epithelium.CK5 and CK6 together can be utilized to distinguish mesothelioma from metastatic lung cancer and ductal hyperplasia from solid papillary carcinoma in situ.
