Solution 6 – VB-48™•PI is a staining reagent containing a thiol-reactive fluorescent probe, VitaBright-48™ and propidium iodide (PI). Solution 6 – VB-48™•PI enables the user to detect changes in cell vitality. Solution 6 – VB-48™•PI contains two different dyes: PI staining nonviable cells only and VB-48™ which stains cells in an intensity-dependent manner reflecting their redox status. A high fluorescence intensity of a particular cell indicates that the cell has a high level of reduced thiols. VitaBright-48™ can be used as a marker for detection of mid- to late-stage apoptosis in mammalian cells as high levels of reduced thiols within any given cell will result in a high fluorescence intensity of VB-48™.
