Overview
Catheter placement system for peripheral nerve blocks. Soft catheter tip designed to minimise tissue injury and reduce primary and secondary dislocation during placement and mobilisation. Manufactured by PAJUNK.

Clinical requirements - Precision in catheter placement

• Accurate and stable catheter placement is essential for reliable peripheral nerve block performance.
• Primary dislocation: inadvertent advancement of the catheter through nerve layers can misplace the anesthetic and risk nerve or vessel injury.
• Secondary dislocation: early patient movement can cause catheter migration, compromising regional anesthesia effectiveness and potentially damaging surrounding structures.

Design and material details

• Soft catheter material: flexible tip reduces the risk of primary and secondary dislocation and decreases potential trauma to nerves and vessels.
• Soft tip behaviour: tip deflects from the nerve wall due to tissue resistance and tends to remain near firmer fascia to avoid further advancement.
• Stylet (mandrin): included and recessed 5 cm from the distal end to allow safe placement while preserving the atraumatic tip.
• Integrated stainless steel helical coil: provides kink resistance and flexibility, maintains a stable inner lumen for high flow rates and simple pump connection.
• Three lateral openings: positioned within the first ~11 mm to allow even anesthetic distribution while the tip remains closed.
• Catheter container: enables one-handed insertion through the needle under sterile conditions and improves tactile feedback; reduces catheter memory effect.
• Markings and graduations: outlet markings for SonoLong needles (50 mm, 100 mm, 150 mm) and six ascending markings in 5 cm increments up to 30 cm to indicate catheter exit and facilitate position control.

SonoLong NanoLine® needle features

• Cornerstone reflectors: 360° graduations on the first 20 mm for optimised ultrasound visibility of shaft and tip; reliable echogenicity at higher angles.
• NanoLine coating: ultra-thin polymer layer in inner and outer lumen; stimulation is specified only through the non-insulated needle tip to support selective nerve stimulation.
