Product descriptionVilowond® Lipo is an absorbent non‑adherent wound dressing composed of a gelling non‑adherent lipo‑colloid wound contact layer (polyester mesh impregnated with superabsorbent powder, soft paraffin and cohesion polymers) laminated to an absorbent non‑woven fluff.
Features- Healing in moist environment: Hydrocolloid particles gel on contact with exudate, maintaining a moist environment that supports healing.
- Painless, atraumatic removal: The paraffinic, non‑greasy nature and gel formation minimise adherence and allow gentle removal.
- Absorbent: Lamination to an absorbent non‑woven layer provides capacity for low to moderate exudate levels; superabsorbent variants are available for higher needs.
- Instant absorption: Exudate passes through the lipo‑colloid mesh into the absorbent layer for rapid uptake.
- Retention under pressure: The pad retains absorbed exudate even under compression, reducing maceration and preserving a humid wound surface.
- Highly conformable: Soft construction conforms to wound contours for intimate contact.
- Supports healing: Contributes to healing processes, including stimulation of fibroblast proliferation.
Indications- Management of wounds in the granulation and epithelialisation phases, including burns, traumatic wounds, abrasions, post‑operative wounds, leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers and epidermolysis bullosa.
- Vilowond® Lipo variants are intended for low to moderately exuding wounds.
- Variants with superabsorbent pad are indicated when higher absorption capacity is required.
Contraindications- Do not use in patients with known sensitivity to any product ingredients.
- Do not use Vilowond® Lipo with superabsorbent pad as a surgical sponge for heavily exuding surgical wounds.
How to use- Cleanse the wound according to local clinical procedure and rinse with saline.
- Dry surrounding skin carefully.
- Cut non‑adhesive Lipo‑Colloid dressings to shape if required.
- Select a dressing slightly larger than the wound.
- Remove the protective liner and apply the dressing in intimate contact with the wound bed, covering the entire wound surface.
- For non‑adhesive variants, secure with an appropriate retention bandage that is not occlusive to maintain breathability.
- Typical wear time: up to 7 days depending on exudate level and clinical condition; for epidermolysis bullosa, change every 1–3 days.
- To remove, use tweezers, forceps or a gloved hand to lift the dressing gently away from the wound.

How it works- 1. Paraffinic components are non‑polar and do not adhere to polar proteinaceous exudates, reducing adherence to the wound.
- 2. Hydrocolloid particles absorb exudate and form a gel, providing an optimal moist environment and contributing to non‑adherence through synergy with paraffinic components.
- 3. The polyester mesh permits exudate passage to the absorbent layer so excess fluid is taken up and does not dry on the wound bed.

Technical specifications- Composition: gelling non‑adherent lipo‑colloid wound contact layer laminated to absorbent non‑woven fluff.
- Lipo‑colloid layer: polyester mesh impregnated with superabsorbent powder, soft paraffin and cohesion polymers.
- Function: absorbent, non‑adherent, promotes moist healing environment and painless removal.
- Suitable for: low to moderately exuding wounds; superabsorbent pad variants for higher exudate levels.
- Conformability: soft and highly conformable to wound contours.
- Retention: retains exudate under compression to reduce maceration.
- Typical wear time: up to 7 days (depends on wound condition); for epidermolysis bullosa change every 1–3 days.
