Description

Product description
Hydrocellular (polyurethane) foam dressing ESPUMA® Adhesive with an adhesive border and TPU wound contact layer for exudate management and wound protection.

Composition
ESPUMA® Adhesive consists of the same composite structure as ESPUMA® Non-Adhesive with a centrally placed TPU wound contact layer laminated to an adhesive polyurethane film substrate.

Indications
  • Under the supervision of a healthcare professional, indicated for management of partial- to full-thickness wounds including venous, arterial and diabetic ulcers.
  • Pressure ulcers and prevention of pressure-related injury where appropriate.
  • Donor sites.
  • Surgical incisions and excisions.
  • First- and second-degree burns.
  • Lacerations and abrasions requiring exudate absorption and protection.
  • Can be used throughout the healing process to protect and manage indicated wound types.

How to use
  • Cleanse the wound according to local clinical protocols.
  • Select a dressing size that overlaps the wound margin by at least 2 cm.
  • Remove the sterile dressing from the pouch using aseptic technique.

For adhesive variants
  • Remove the central paper window if present.
  • Peel back the large flap of the release liner to expose the adhesive portion.
  • Position the dressing while removing the smaller flap of the release liner.
  • Smooth the dressing and slowly remove the paper frame to ensure good adhesion.
  • To remove, loosen the border before lifting the dressing away from the wound.

Contraindications
  • Do not use in patients with known sensitivity to polyurethanes or polyacrylates.
  • Not suitable for third-degree burns or wounds with excessive bleeding.
  • Not intended as a primary dressing for dry wounds, dry eschar or sinus tracts.

Precautions
  • Use on infected wounds only under the discretion of a healthcare professional.
  • Sterility is maintained unless the pouch is damaged or opened prior to use.
  • Do not cover with occlusive films or tapes that may reduce moisture vapor transmission.
  • Avoid use with oxidizing agents (e.g., hydrogen peroxide, hypochlorite); ensure such solutions are fully dried before application.
  • If dressing adheres to the wound at dressing change, moisten with normal saline to aid removal.
  • Consult a healthcare professional if signs of infection or sensitivity occur.
  • Reuse increases risk of infection or cross-contamination; single use recommended.
  • Wounds due to arterial insufficiency should be inspected and managed frequently by a healthcare professional.
  • Cavity sizes are not intended for dry wounds or deep cavity wounds with only a small opening.
  • Dispose of the medical device in accordance with local regulations to minimize infection risk and environmental impact.

How it works
Hydrocellular (polyurethane) foam dressings are permeable to gases and water vapor. Their hydrophilic structure provides absorptive capacity for exudate while offering thermal insulation and cushioning. Foam dressings also deliver pressure-relief cushioning and can be used prophylactically for pressure injury management.
