OverviewPREMISUT PDO suture (Polydioxanone) is a sterile synthetic monofilament absorbable surgical suture manufactured from poly(p-dioxanone). Available dyed with D&C Violet No 2 or in undyed form. Designed to provide extended wound support where absorbable monofilament sutures are indicated.
Intended useIntended for general soft tissue approximation, including paediatric cardiovascular tissue where growth is expected, and for ophthalmic procedures. Suitable when extended tensile support up to approximately six weeks is required.
Performance and absorptionEngineered to reduce variability in handling and tensile characteristics and to maintain wound support during the extended healing phase. After implantation it induces a minimal initial inflammatory response and is progressively replaced by fibrous connective tissue. PREMISUT PDO is hydrolyzed in tissues to monomers of 2-hydroxyethoxyacetic acid, which are absorbed and metabolized by the body. Absorption proceeds with a gradual loss of tensile strength followed by mass loss.
NotesTechnical features may be modified to meet market or clinical needs, for example:
- coating
- tensile strength
- needle type and composition
- sterile packaging
