PresentationThe BIOSEB Eight Arms Radial Maze (model LE768) is designed for behavioural laboratories to assess spatial memory and non-spatial memory associated with motivational cues such as food. The apparatus is suitable for rodent studies and can be adapted to a water-maze configuration when required.
Operating principleThe maze comprises a central platform connected to eight identical arms, each controlled by a sliding door. Constructed from black Plexiglas, the device is mounted on a tripod with adjustable height (up to 1 m). Arm sidewalls are higher on the proximal side than on the distal side. Each arm end accepts a detachable recessed cup or a cover (both supplied). Doors can be operated manually (mechanical thread with pulley or an off-site control unit with eight switches) or automatically using position detection.
Measured parameters- Chronological sequence of animal entries in the maze (MAZESOFT-8 and SMART)
- Time spent in each zone (MAZESOFT-8 and SMART)
- Current animal position (MAZESOFT-8 and SMART)
- Total number of entries per zone (MAZESOFT-8 and SMART)
- Reference and working memory counts/errors (MAZESOFT-8)
- Other integrated parameters: number of arm visits, response latency, etc.
Key features- Compatible with automated standard protocols
- Multiple door control options: manual or automated
- Multiple detection options: photoelectrical cells or SMART video-tracking
- Mounted on an adjustable tripod for precise height positioning
